Two products, two uses
Textile DTF (Direct to Film) transfers your design to fabric with a heat press: T-shirts, hoodies, workwear. UV DTF is a sticker printed and cured with ultraviolet light that applies without heat onto hard, smooth surfaces. They are not interchangeable: each is made for a different support.
Surfaces and what NOT to do
Textile DTF goes on fabric; it is no good for glass or metal. UV DTF goes on rigid, smooth surfaces; it is not for garments that get washed or very flexible surfaces. Picking the wrong product for your support is the most common mistake.
- Textile DTF: cotton, polyester, blends, garments
- UV DTF: glass, metal, plastic, wood
- Do not use textile DTF on rigid surfaces
- Do not use UV DTF on worn and washed clothing
Application: heat vs adhesive
Textile DTF needs a heat press (150–170 °C) and a film peel. UV DTF needs no heat or press: you peel, stick onto the clean surface, press and remove the transfer film. It is a three-step process with no machinery.
Durability, outdoors and price
Textile DTF withstands 50+ washes when well applied. UV DTF resists rubbing, water and outdoors, ideal for packaging, bottles or signage that live away from the washing machine. On price, textile DTF starts at €7/m + VAT and UV DTF at €18/m + VAT: UV costs more because the material and high-resistance finish are different.

When you need both and which to choose
Many brands use both: textile DTF for clothing and UV DTF for labels, packaging or rigid merchandising. The rule is simple: if it goes on fabric, textile DTF; if it goes on a hard surface, UV DTF. If in doubt, order a sample of each line before your first big order.
